Since the start of Insecurity Insight’s Education in Danger open-source monitoring in January 2017, on average 63 incidents per month were identified, covering both political and conflict violence, averaging 2.1 attacks on education every day. The average rose from 32 per month in 2017-2022, to 168 per month in 2025, reflecting both improved open-source reporting as well as a growing frequency in which education has come under attack.
